President Moon Jae-in will be hosting an official dinner tonight for Ivanka Trump at the presidential residence of Cheongwadae.
Daughter of U.S. President Donald Trump, Ivanka serves as an adviser to the president and will arrive in Seoul on Friday as part of a U.S. delegation that will attend the closing ceremony of the PyeongChang Winter Olympics on Sunday.
Ivanka Trump and the rest of the delegation are expected to return to Washington on Monday.
Attention is being drawn to whether Ivanka will be carrying a message from President Trump on pending issues, like possible talks between the U.S. and North Korea.
The meeting also comes at a time of mounting trade tension between Seoul and Washington over the Trump administration's safeguard measures against certain products made in South Korea.
