Seoul adds two more cars to all-stop trains on subway line 9
Seoul City is increasing the number of carriages (객차, 마차, 차) on its trains on subway line nine.
The local government on Monday added two more compartments (칸막이의 한 객실, 구분된 분실,격실) to its 25 all-stop trains, bringing their total number of carriages to six.
They are also increasing the number of trains in operation from the current 37 to 40 trains.
Line nine has been dubbed (별명을 붙이다) the 'hell train' due to its high levels of congestion (밀집, 혼잡, 정체) but the local government says the extra carriages will lower congestion to one hundred-and-15 percent, down six percent, or about 10 people per carriage, from the current levels.
