Cancer deaths to rise to 9.6 million in 2018:

The World Health Organization predicts that cancer will claim (목숨을) 앗아가다, (사실이라고) 주장하다, (자기권리나 재산이라고 여겨) 요구하다, 요청하다, 청구하다, the lives of nearly 10 million people this year.
The report by the WHO's cancer research agency also states. that the number of people around the world who have cancer is rapidly growing,. with more than 18 million new cases predicted for this year alone.
The figure suggests. one in five men and one in six women. will develop cancer during their lifetime.
An increase in the global population and an ageing society are being cited (cite as ~을 이유로 대다) as some of the reasons for the rise in cancer cases.
